David Blaine came to
BBDO/Radiate and
P.R.omotion!® with a challenge: find a way to
create a high profile stunt that takes place in Times Square to kick off the holiday
shopping season and Target's 2-Day Sale. Target's challenge to Blaine was no easy
feat. On Tuesday, November 21, 2006, Blaine was shackled inside of a gyroscope and
lifted 50 feet, high above Times Square. Blaine's challenge was to escape in time for
the Target 2-Day Sale on Friday, November 24. Working under top-secret conditions for
almost two months,
P.R.omotion!® and
BBDO/Radiate worked together
to secure a large Times Square location, security, and 24-hour EMT services, while
capably obtaining and securing all of the necessary permits from over 8 city agencies.
This highly successful event was featured on numerous media outlets including
CNN,
MSNBC, and
FOX News.
